Special Event – Welcome to my Neighbourhood with Angela
EVENT IS FULL
Monceau: mansions, museums, music, markets and meadows
Come discover Monceau, one of the four districts of the 17th arrondissement with our fellow member, Angel Wilkins.
Monceau had its own history before it was incorporated into Paris in the 19th century. The hamlet and vineyards of Monceau were on maps dating from 860, and in the 15th century, Joan of Arc is said to have camped on the grounds of Monceau castle before attempting to liberate Paris. She certainly wouldn’t recognise it now: there is plenty more to see in this district of contrasts, ancient and modern, urban and pastoral, residential, commercial and cultural.
Angela has lived in the area, on and off, since 1994 and would love to share some of the landmarks, architectural gems, market streets and open spaces that make this area special. We will stop at a local restaurant for lunch, for those who wish.
Date and time: 11.00 – 15.00, Tuesday, 19 May 2026
